The Cosmic Ray Division (CRD) of Armenia's Institute of Physics is one of the top five institutes of its kind in the world. It is the best in the world in terms of conducting ground-based research in natural particle acceleration. In 1999, when Anahid Yeremian, a particle accelerator physicist from Stanford University, saw the amazing research being done at CRD with extremely limited resources and funding, she rolled up her sleeves and devoted herself to ensuring that the CRD was able to continue functioning and providing a space for young Armenian scientists to apply their knowledge.
