Former Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan has been appointed Armenia’s ambassador to the United States by a decree issued on June 26 by President Serzh Sargsyan. A second decree released Ambassador Tatul Margaryan from this position, while a third conferred the title of Ambassador Extraordinaire and Plenipotentiary to Sargsyan. Tigran Sargsyan, who was born in 1960 in Vanadzor, submitted his resignation as prime minister, an office he had held since April, 2008. Prior to becoming prime minister, Sargsyan was the Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia. He is also a member of the Republican Party of Armenia.
